THE NEWS
Stay up to date with the latest from Engineering Building & Infrastructure (EBNI) — from major infrastructure proposals like the Sydney Hybrid Bridge and Integrated Metro Corridor, to project milestones, industry engagements and company announcements. This is where we share our progress as we work to deliver innovative structural, civil and infrastructure solutions across NSW.

EBNI Submits Sydney State Significant Infrastructure Proposal
Engineering Building & Infrastructure (EBNI) has formally submitted its unsolicited proposal for the Sydney Hybrid (SH) Bridge, a combined bridge and metro infrastructure initiative for Sydney. The multi-volume Strategic Report outlines the project's technical, financial, and delivery framework for consideration by relevant government agencies.

EBNI Reshapes Sydney’s Public Transport Philosophy & Infrastructure
Engineering Building & Infrastructure (EBNI) has formally submitted its unsolicited Sydney Hybrid Bridge (SH Bridge) proposal—a new harbour crossing connecting Balls Head/Waverton with Balmain/Rozelle, integrating an eight-lane road bridge with a protected future metro corridor.
The metro would connect Crows Nest–Victoria Cross with the Rozelle/Bays Precinct, extending Sydney’s rail network across the harbour and establishing a more integrated, future-ready approach to Sydney’s transport infrastructure.
EBNI’s multi-volume Strategic Report outlines the engineering, funding and delivery framework and is now with relevant NSW Government agencies for consideration

Balmain Metro Station Building Design Underway as Part of SH Bridge Project
As part of the Sydney Hybrid Bridge and Integrated Metro Corridor proposal, EBNI is currently developing the design for the Balmain-Ballet Metro Station building, which will serve as a passenger interchange and construction access point for the tunnel boring works. The station is planned to connect the southern end of the harbour crossing into the Balmain/Rozelle metro corridor, supporting future rail services into the Inner West. Design and engineering work on the station building is ongoing as the broader Strategic Report proceeds through government review.

EBNI Project & Progress Intelligence Reports
EBNI has developed a State Significant Infrastructure proposal for a major integrated harbour crossing and metropolitan rail corridor to enhance Sydney’s long-term transport capacity, network resilience and connectivity. The proposal comprises a new high-capacity road bridge integrated with a dedicated future metro corridor, connecting strategic transport precincts across Sydney Harbour and extending through established metropolitan centres. The infrastructure is intended to provide additional cross-harbour capacity, support future public transport expansion and improve the integration of road and rail networks. The proposal incorporates major bridge, tunnel, civil, structural and transport infrastructure, supported by a multidisciplinary engineering framework covering feasibility, planning, environmental considerations, detailed design, construction and long-term infrastructure delivery.
This paper explores the design principles, mechanical behavior, material properties, and optimization methods involved in the development and analysis of cable-stayed bridges. Special attention is given to stay cable configurations, post-tensioning strategies, anchorage systems, and advanced failure analyses including non-linear and pushover techniques. A comprehensive literature review, analytical modeling, and practical design recommendations are provided to support future bridge truss system design and safety.
Composite steel–concrete pylon construction is examined, demonstrating mechanical advantages over traditional all-steel or all-concrete pylons—including enhanced stiffness, reduced construction time via modular prefabrication, and improved overall stability. Synthesizing recent research and case studies, the study distills design guidelines and safety considerations to inform future large-span bridge projects.
The combined findings advance the mechanistic understanding of TBM performance and provide design guidance for steering control, segment protection, and discharge efficiency. Moreover, by linking excavation tolerances to operational safety of subsequent rail systems, this research underscores the critical role of TBM modelling in delivering both construction efficiency and long-term transport reliability.
